    Habitat:
    Yucatán Peninsula
    Status: Near Threatened

This definitely wouldn't have been your Thanksgiving dinner (I hope!). The Ocellated Turkey is the most beautiful and ornately colored of all turkey species. Though I must admit, the close up of that Ocellated Turkey's face isn't particularly lovely. I guess orange and red nodules coverying a fleshy blue face aren't my thing.

Over hunting is one of the main causes of its near threatened status and even googling the term "ocellated turkey" resulted in mainly links about hunting them which was incredibly sad.

Instead of making a "gobbling" sound, the Ocellated Turkey calls with six to seven bongo-like bass tones that quicken in flow and volume until the bird's head is fully erect and it issues a high pitched but melodious series of chops.

Ocellated turkeys are awesome! I saw them in the Yucatan, and they are... let's say below average in the intelligence department. They would come up to our car and peck at their reflections. Still they are so gorgeous and it was amazing to see them

what the h... is this animal? I never seen before, in fact I even did know that something like this exist in the world, but well is pretty, is like take a peacock and take off all it feathers, later take a turkey do the same, but you take the feathers from the peacock and glue it to the turkey.

I don'¡t know why they have that kind of thing in its head. It is the one thing that it makes it less majestic.
